Why didn't I receive a response?

There may be one or more reasons why our system did not receive your vote. First, check to make sure you can receive text messages on your mobile phone. You may want to contact your wireless carrier if you are having difficulty with receiving or sending messages.

Check to make sure you entered and sent the correct text message. Make sure you text in the correct 2-letter keyword 'LA', 'CI' or 'SF' with no extra spaces and hidden characters. You may have to switch off your predictive text feature.

Check to make sure you entered the correct number with the correct formatting; no extra spaces or hypens between characters. Key in the country code 1 then the 866 area code followed by the correct numbered sequence 7671300.

Why did I receive an error message?

An error message is triggered by an incorrect text message. Make sure you text in with no extra spaces and characters. You may have to switch off your predictive text feature.

How do I reply?

On the option menu hit the reply prompt, then enter the proper keyword or letter and hit Send. Your phone should insert the proper phone number in the “Send To” field.

Why does it take longer than 10 seconds to get a response?

Text messaging is more like an email than a direct call. A text message is sent to a server that matches your mobile phone number to a carrier and then it is sent out through the proper network. During peak message times there could be a delay in processing text messages.

Is there a charge for text messages?

Message charges will vary by carrier. Usually, rates will be $.10 or less per message. Please consult your carrier and your service plan for your message rates. You can reach your carrier by dialing 611 from your mobile phone.

I don't know if my mobile phone supports text messages; how can I find out?

Most of today's phones are capable of receiving text messages. Many of these phones are also capable of originating or sending a text message. To determine your phone's capabilities consult your carrier. You can also look at the options that your phone provides. From the menu, select "messages" and within messages see if you have an 'inbox' indicating that you can receive messages, and a 'write message' or similar option, indicating that you can originate messages. You can also have a friend send you a message and you can reply to it.
