NetInformer and WB20 KBWB-TV offer a Premium Text Message contest where viewers of “King of the Hill” can win $50,000

November 22, 2004, San Francisco — NetInformer, a leading wireless interactive media company, has teamed up with the Bay Area’s WB20 KBWB-TV to launch one of the first premium text message TV contests in the Bay Area. Now through Dec. 7, 2004, viewers of “King of the Hill” can use their cell phones for a chance to win $50,000 or a wide screen HDTV.

During airings of “King of the Hill,” weeknights at 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. on KBWB-TV, viewers will be prompted to play an interactive quiz by texting “WB20” to the Short Code 71WIN (71946). Players will then receive a trivia question on their mobile phone about one of the episodes they just watched. For a 50 cent convenience fee, viewers can reply with their answer. All correct responses are automatically entered to win a weekly $50,000 cash prize or a wide screen HDTV.

As an added incentive to play, all viewers who participate will win a mobile coupon for a free Big Hunk candy bar, courtesy of Hayward-based Annabelle Candy Co., Inc. Players can enter as many times as they like, to increase their chance of winning. Participants also get reminder messages and the chance to opt-in for future offers and promotions from WB20.

“Although we are using Premium SMS to offer a huge weekly prize to help drive participation, the real idea behind this promotional contest is using the wireless phone to take the viewing experience beyond the screen,” said Greg Pinter, CEO of NetInformer. “We can deepen the connection between audiences and their favorite show, regardless of what type of program it happens to be syndicated or live, local or national.”

“This is a very innovative promotion, and the first of its kind in the Bay Area to bring together wireless and interactive TV elements,” said Bob Anderson, General Manager, WB20, “NetInformer helped put together a package that allows us to experiment with a new, dynamic form of marketing utilizing cellular technology.”

Official rules and contest information is available online at www.WB20.com.
